Proposed Changes
Napier City Council is proposing changes to its Dog Control Policy. The proposed changes aim to ensure that dogs can live a good life in Napier while also ensuring our city is safe for everyone.
The key proposed changes include:
- Requiring all dogs to be microchipped and registered with the Council.
- Introducing a new dangerous dog category.
- Increasing the penalties for dog attacks.
- Introducing a new requirement for dog owners to keep their dogs on a leash in public places.
The proposed changes are currently out for public consultation. Submissions close on 14 April 2022.
