British Grand Prix 2023: Verstappen takes another pole position
Verstappen dominant in qualifying once again
Red Bull driver Max Verstappen has taken his seventh pole position of the 2023 Formula 1 season so far during Saturday's qualifying at the British Grand Prix.
The Dutchman was in dominant form throughout the session, setting the fastest time in all three qualifying segments.
McLaren impress
McLaren produced a stunning qualifying performance to claim second and third on the grid, with Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri ahead of the Ferrari of Carlos Sainz.
It is the first time since 2012 that McLaren have had two drivers on the front row of the grid.
Disappointment for Hamilton
Home favourite Lewis Hamilton could only manage sixth place for Mercedes, behind the Alpine of Fernando Alonso.
It was a disappointing result for Hamilton, who has won the British Grand Prix a record eight times.
Conclusion
Verstappen will be the heavy favourite to win the British Grand Prix on Sunday, but McLaren will be hoping to challenge the Red Bull driver and claim their first victory of the season.
